The US was the best-selling furniture brand in the world in 2016, according to an industry survey.
American Home Furnishes’ 2016 global market share is up 14% to $4.1bn, making it the world’s largest furniture retailer.
The survey, conducted by the American Institute of Architects and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, also found that furniture sales in 2016 were up 14.6% to 2.9 billion pieces.
The market is expected to reach $3.5bn in 2020, according the survey.
A majority of American home buyers in 2016 bought furniture from American Home, with 44.6 per cent spending $1,000 or more.
The average cost per piece of furniture in 2016 was $1.36.
The American Home Group, a subsidiary of American Home Financial, owns and operates the majority of US furniture retailers, including Home Depot, Home Depot Home Improvement, Lowe’s, Home Improvement Home Depot and the Home Depot Center.
It also operates the American Home Store, which is owned by American Home.
